A lot happens in six months time!
Reece continues to grow in stature and knowledge and often impresses us with just how much he knows. We are convinced that he knows way more than he is letting on because every once in a while he will slip up and do exactly what we are asking him to do (like place his cup upright on the table). :)
Reece's vocabulary is developing rapidly and every day he gets better at communicating himself. If he can't tell us what he wants he will usually grab our hand and lead us to whatever he is trying to do/get. He expresses himself with actual words, partial words, sign language, and onomatopoeia (my favorite!). He will also attempt any word we ask him to try.
Here is a quick "off the top of my head" list:
Actual words: bike, boat, book, baby, Dada, Mama, Papa, Nana, no, go, two, stuck, more, bus, shhh!, push, walk
Partial words: si=outside, ah dun=all done, wawa=water, puh=up, help, and open, ooh-ah-ha=uh oh!, pass=pacifier, mil=milk, buh-buh-bubble
Sign language: all done, milk, banana, please, thank you, and you're welcome
Onomatopoeia: When asked the name of any animal Reece responds with the sound the animal makes. His three favorites are fff-fff for dog, quack for duck, and baa for sheep. Other animal sounds he makes are: fish, shark, horse, cat, cow, turkey, lion, bear, tiger, bird, monkey, gorilla, giraffe, elephant (this includes his arm raised like a trunk), and pig. He also mimics vehicles with a variety of sounds: car, truck, bus, fire engine, helicopter, airplane, and tractor.
Reece continues to love to read and his new favorite books are those where he can respond with an action. From Head to Toe by Eric Carle, Eyes, Ears, Fingers, and Toes, and Trucks! are his current favorites. We read together daily and often I find him reading books on his own in his room.
He is becoming more active and runs fast enough to evade our capture for a moment. We are amazed at how quickly his little feet can move! Grandpa says he went straight from crawling to running! He climbs stairs, the couch, the ottoman, and up the slide at the park (not all the way). He is still an analyst (like his Dada) and is a cautious climber, so the playground isn't too dangerous yet.

Here are a few highlights from the past several months...
We moved! Aaron and I made the decision that I would resign from teaching so that I could stay home full-time with Reece and our baby girl to be.
Reece's "Last Supper" and tangerine at 735 G.
In March, Aaron and I traveled to Colorado for a ski trip with our good friends. Reece spent a week in Visalia at Papa and Nana's house while we were away.
Reece loved looking at Papa's motorcycle, but not riding it! He and Papa (and Nana) had a blast together!
Just a couple weekends later we headed back up for Jaelyn's first birthday party. Happy Birthday, Jae!
I continued to tutor two afternoons a week through the end of the school year. Reece got to hang out with Sheerah, Aidan, and Addison while I was gone.
Reece finally went from crawling to walking in his 15th month. He was such an efficient crawler that it didn't make a huge difference to us, except for having to re-baby proof the house at a new, higher level.
Reece at his 12 month, 15 month, and 18 month appointments
Reece went from eating A LOT to sometimes not much at all...
...however beer and cookies are always an option! (We caught him drinking the beer at our friend's house while we were all saying grace.)
Reece loves Grace and the two are so close they play like brother and sister.
We spent Easter at Spreckles Park. Reece loved opening his eggs and eating the animal crackers hiding inside.
He also enjoyed running around the park and playground.
For two weeks Reece and I participated in Mommy and Me swim lessons. In that short amount of time he learned to kick, hold onto the wall, swim to the wall and grab on (with a push from me), blow bubbles, jump in, and he became comfortable going under water (on his own and being put under). He did not want anything to do with floating on his back.
We celebrated my birthday at the Hentschel's. Thank you for the delicious dinner and cake!
Like I said, these little years are already going way too fast. I am so grateful for my time with you, ReecerBoy!
