May 2014

May was full of family and fun!
First off, Kansas!
Elle made an excellent flying companion.  She watched one episode of Super Why! and we hung out and chatted the rest of the way.  Aaron and Reece had a great time discussing the mechanics of the plane's wings and reading the safety charts.

Once we landed, Grandpa and Grandma greeted us and whisked us away to Fritz's Railroad Restaurant.  We all had fun watching Aaron order by phone, as well as the train deliver our meal.
The rest of our trip was full of spending time with family, graduation parties, and graduations.
Stephanie's graduation from Kansas State:
The kids did great sitting still and watching the ceremony.  S for Slimmer is long way down the alphabet, so the kids and I eventually moved upstairs to stretch and watched Stephanie receive her diploma from the television upstairs.
Justina and Skyler's high school graduation:
We are so proud of you!
After celebrating Stephanie in downtown Manhattan, we hit a few young deer on our way home (at 3am!).  Fortunately no one was hurt... except for the poor deer and Connie's car.
Time around the house:
Elle LOVED spending time with Great Grandma Betty...
...and Skyler!
Reece, Elle, and Evan became fast friends!
Grandma and Elle had fun dipping strawberries... and even more fun licking the chocolate!

We spent a morning at the Kansas Children's Discovery Center.  It was by far the best children's museum we have ever been to!
We laughed hysterically while riding the adult trikes!  The kids had a blast racing us through the winding trails.
Elle painted the windows while Aaron and Reece built a race car.  The kids also tumbled, played doctor, pushed rice through a conveyor/levy system, drove tractors, climbed the treehouse, changed tires and oil on a car, and more!
Thank you, Grandpa and Grandma for the wonderful trip!  Until next year...

We came home to this.  Glad we missed the initial demolition!
Once home, we visited downtown San Diego's new Waterfront Park with the Woodalls.

Fun in the Woodall's mini bounce-house!

The wildfires this year got a little too close to home.  Over 29,000 acres burned, several of which entered into the canyons surrounding our local neighborhoods.  Our preschool was evacuated, and much of the area around it is now charred.  I am amazed that the firefighters were able to save so many homes.

Aaron and I hired an all-day sitter, got dressed up, and attended Ashley and Joe's wedding in LaJolla and Coronado.  We had so much fun... especially with Susan and Mike!  Congratulations Ashley!

Mother's Day Breakfast at Coast Kids Preschool with Reece
This is the only proof of my Mother's Day gift.  A Sunday 'good morning, Mom' picture because I was busy sleeping in at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort.  My gift was a day away to relax, which I certainly did!  I was so grateful for the recharge.
Once home, Aaron, Reece, and Elle spoiled me with a family barbecue.

Reece helped bake chocolate chip cookies for Mrs. Penny and Miss Bridgette for Teacher Appreciation Day.

Elle learned how to paint her nails.  She was in heaven!
