June 2014

No June gloom here!  June was full of sunshine, popsicles, and playing in our backyard.

We decided that a play structure would be the perfect addition to our back yard.  After shopping for new (yikes!) and used, we found a family in Brea with the perfect one for us.  We rented a truck and made a trip up to get it.  The family was so sweet.  Reece and Elle ate snacks and jumped on the trampoline with their two kids while the adults loaded it.  It was a fun adventure!
Aaron and Reece prepped the yard for our new play structure
The adventure continued once we got home.  Thankfully, Rob and Eric were able to help us carry the tower over the fence.  Reece and Aaron worked hard to construct it over the next few days.  I took a few days and five cans of stain to stain it and help it look like new.

Our couples bible study ended with a family picnic at the old Del Mar train station.  Paul and Elaine were wonderful hosts!  We played family games and ate delicious food (wish we had a group picture!).

We met friends at Feather Farms to go horseback riding, but the horses weren't available.  We had fun wandering around talking to the animals instead.

Aaron joined Reece at preschool for a Father's Day celebration.  They played Legos, dress up and enjoyed a bagel breakfast together.

We spent Father's Day at the beach.  It was a beautiful day and the perfect way to kick off summer!

After Father's Day weekend, the kids and I took a trip up to Visalia.
Mornings in the spa
Reece still loves Papa's motorcycle!

Christina invited the girls and kids all over for a swim date!

We continued the day into the night with a birthday celebration at Bravo Farms.

Happy Birthday dinner and milkshakes for me!

And a few more pics from our trip...
This is what all the fun with family in Visalia will do to you!  I'm so grateful we are able to spend so much time there!

Finally, a few random pics to finish out the month...
Elle is our little artist who very rarely paints or draws on paper... and very rarely has on clothing this summer!

Dress up is a new favorite activity for us!
Lunch in the backyard is too!
We loved having the Woodalls up for a visit!
Again, no June gloom here!
Elle's new favorite beach hobby... digging a hole close enough to the ocean for it to fill her own personal pool.

I peeked into Elle's room during nap time and this is what I found... She is too cute!  We are now having "Quiet Time" for an hour instead.  Reece plays and reads in his room the entire time, and Elle usually plays and then falls asleep on her bedroom floor for her nap (amidst her toys and usually naked).
Elle and I painted her bedroom mirror pink... too pink! We will be repeating this project soon!
A bath AND lollipops... doesn't get much better than that!

I saved the best for last. We took these on the morning of Reece's last day of preschool.  They perfectly represent the dynamic between these two...
Elle first (of course!)
Reece's turn!
and then the Grand Finale...
