September 2013

Oh, September!  We have been waiting for you for MONTHS!  In fact, Reece learned the 12 months of the year just so we could count down to you.  Why?  Reece could not wait for his first day of PRESCHOOL!!!  We have been counting the months since about February when we learned that Reece had a spot in the Tuesday/Thursday 9-12PM class at Graham Memorial.  We visited the school office to pay our deposit, and while we were there, a class walked by.  The kids and their teacher were all pretending to be airplanes as they walked, and Reece was instantly in awe!  When we left he protested, "Wait!  I need to go to my class!"  He talked about going to preschool every day from then on.
Before and after pictures of Reece's new haircut... in honor of his first day of Preschool!
Reece's first day of Preschool breakfast request: Cinnamon toast and strawberries.
Posing with Dad before he left for work.
We walked to school, and left a little too early.  We had about 10 minutes to wait until the doors opened, so more pictures!
FINALLY!  Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Cuthbert greeted Reece and gave him a name tag.  He was then free to explore.  He showed Elle around and then sweetly said good-bye.  Can't you just see the happiness and excitement in his smile?!
Reece was so happy and did such a good job saying good-bye to Elle (who was sad to leave).
I was told I would be sad walking away from the school, but I was so happy!  Reece's excitement for school made me so happy, and I was thankful to be able to spend one-on-one time with Elle.
I treated Elle to donuts in honor of Reece's first day, and her first day on her own.  She was thrilled!

Weekend barbecue at the Woodalls!
Water fight!
The kids were having a hard time slip-n-sliding... Priscilla helped them out!

Water fun at the Hents, along with some Duck, Duck, Goose!

Barbecue at the Bucklew's!
Watching hummingbirds

Reecer is still sleeping with Ruff-Ruff...
...and Elle is still casually potty training!
Elle is becoming so independent.  She carries chairs throughout the house to help her reach everything. Reece is as well... he loves making my morning coffee.

We took a trip to Julian to go pear-picking.  When we arrived, we explored the antique fire truck, farm equipment and horses.  Reece loved the equipment and Elle loved the animals!  We then picked up our bag and pear picker and headed out.
The fresh-picked pears were delicious!  We tried all of the varieties before deciding what we wanted to pick and take home.
Yum!
